Community Calendar for August 20th

There is a $28,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the Martin Fire.  The Bureau of Land Management has increased the offer to $5000.  Separate from the BLM, Snyder Plumbing of Winnemucca is offering $1000, $7000 from Humboldt County, Newmont Mine along with Elko Land and Livestock are offering $5000, and the Stewart Family of 96 Ranch are offering $10,000.  If you have any information please call (775) 623-6429, or the BLM at (775) 857-3511.  You can also visit ncsonv.com and provide information online; you can remain anonymous if you wish.

August 22nd, 24th & 25th Poke ‘N’ Peek is helping reduce the cost of schools by offering clothes to kids K through 12th grade.  They may select three tops, three bottoms, one pair of shoes and one backpack at no charge.  (Girls – A dress is equal to one top and one bottom) This offer is valid while supplies last.  Poke ‘N’ Peek is located at 3200 Bengochea Drive and is open 10 to 2 on the 22nd and 12 to 4 on the 24th and 25th.

August 24th Lowry Football will take on Sparks at home.  JV take the field at 4:30 with Varsity beginning at 7pm.

August 24th and 25th the Lowry Varsity Volleyball team will participate in a tournament at Yerington.  Saturday the 25th the JV Volleyball team will be at Truckee for a tournament starting at 8am.

The Lowry Soccer teams will be in South Tahoe on August 24th and 25th for a tournament.

The Lowry Cross Country team will be at Douglas High School for a meet on August 24th.

Nevada Department of Transportation will begin chip sealing Winnemucca Blvd from exit 173 to exit 176 at 6:30 am on August 29th.  This phase will last two days and expect up to half an hour delays with single lane traffic.

The Tri County Fair will begin at 4pm on August 30th with the opening of the Carnival.

The 97th Annual Labor Day Rodeo will begin on September 1st.

September 5th NDOT will apply the final layer to Winnemucca Blvd from Exit 173 to 176.  Expect up to thirty minute delays as the roadwork is completed.

The American Youth Soccer Organization will host their opening ceremony on September 8th at 8am to kick off the soccer season.
