The Humboldt County School District would like to remind parents of Lowry High School athletes who plan to participate in the 2018 2019 school year that ALL athletes must register on Register My Athlete to be eligible to participate in Lowry sports. The 2018-2019 window is now open to allow parents and or athletes to begin registering. Please be sure to register your athlete for the grade level they will be starting in August. The BLM has issued a fire prevention order that took effect the end of June, that prohibits the discharge, use or allowing the use of fireworks or pyrotechnic devices on all public lands under the administration of the Bureau of Land Management. The order also includes tracer rounds, steel-core ammunition, incendiary rounds, and exploding targets.
The 33rd annual Silver State International Rodeo begins July 2nd. For a complete list of events and registration forms check out SSIR dot US. Along with traditional rodeo events join in the fun of trap and rifle shooting, dog races, the queen contest, mud volley ball, and the fourth of July parade at 10am on Winnemucca Blvd. Don’t forget the saddle raffle, tickets are five dollars each or five for twenty.
The Winnemucca Host Lion’s Club will host their annual fourth of July event at the Ralph Whitworth Recreation complex, at 1973 Whitworth Way. Come join in some old-fashioned home town fun, including taste of the town and waiter/waitress Olympics, and many more. The fun will begin at 2pm and continue through to the fireworks.

The Battle of The Badges Blood Drive is July 18th from noon to 6:30 and the 19th, from 8am to 1:30, at the west hall of the Convention Center. This friendly competition between law enforcement, fire, and emergency personnel is to see which agency can donate the most blood. Community members are encouraged to donate as well, and vote for their favorite first response agency.
Winnemucca Wheels will take to the streets on July 20th and 21st. The event is open to all makes, models, years, and classes. Registration for the participant judged event has nine classes and includes a pancake breakfast. Don’t forget to join in the Street Dance. For more information check out wmcawheels.com.
