There is a $13,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the Martin Fire. The Bureau of Land Management is offering $2000. The Nevada Outdoor School is hosting a hike in Water Canyon on July 19th. Participants are asked to meet at the first restroom site at 6pm.
The Battle of The Badges Blood Drive is July 18th from noon to 6:30 and the 19th, from 8am to 1:30, at the west hall of the Convention Center. This friendly competition between law enforcement, fire, and emergency personnel is to see which agency can donate the most blood. Community members are encouraged to donate as well, and vote for their favorite first response agency.
Winnemucca Wheels will take to the streets on July 20th and 21st. The event is open to all makes, models, years, and classes. Registration for the participant judged event has nine classes and includes a pancake breakfast. Don’t forget to join in the Street Dance. For more information check out wmcawheels.com.
The Humboldt County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a wine walk on July 21st, starting at 4pm in front of the chamber office on Bridge and Main. The theme is Corks and Classics. The first 120 participants get a commemorative glass. The cost is $20 per person for those 21 and older. On July 18th the Chamber decided to change the times of the July 21st wine walk to 3pm and 6pm.
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is sponsoring “National Night Out” on August 7th. This nation-wide event focuses on crime and drug prevention along with community safety. This year the event will be from 6 to 8pm at Vesco Park on Tuesday August 7th. Many first responder organizations and support services, such as Winnemucca Domestic Violence Services, will be attending. Cookies and ice cream will be served.
August 11th the Nevada Outdoor School is celebrating their 15th year and the 10th year for the Dutch Oven Cook Off. The event will take place in Vesco Park. Cooks will begin at 8am and the public is invited at noon. It isn’t too late to register for the event. Visit nevadaoutdoorschool.org and register today. There are three categories from single dish to an International Dutch Oven Society sanctioned three dish competition that the winner of may participate in Sandy, UT. The NOS asks that interested individuals or groups register by July 28th.
