Beginning at noon Saturday, May 12, Hannah Kohler and Humboldt general Hospital is calling on community members to meet at the Winnemucca Community Garden armed with shovels, rakes, pruning sheers, weed whackers and gloves to tackle what has become a massive list of projects.
Volunteers can expect to help clean, repair and construct planter boxes; remove stumps; prune fruit trees; restore picnic tables; whack weeds, plant flowers; and reinforce and touch up fencing, among other things. Kohler is also asking for donations of trees, plants, wood or other materials that could prove useful in the beautification project.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided to all volunteers, and community residents of all ages are asked to give what time they can to the afternoon project.
The Winnemucca Community Garden is located at 640 Melarkey Street, directly across from the soccer field at Sonoma Heights Elementary School. For more information about the project, please email Hannah Kohler RN, BSN at firstname.lastname@example.org.
