The northern part of the state of Nevada has had some crazy weather patterns and that has presented some challenges for the softball and baseball teams to get their games played. It took a few days for the Lowry softball team to finish their 3 game series in Elko but when the rain finished the Lady Bucks dampened the spirits of the Elko Indians with a 3 game sweep.
Game 1 saw the Lady Bucks win 7-3 and Sylvie Prokasky was the winning pitcher. The hitting star of the game was Kyllie Sappington as she went a perfect 4 for 4 on the day with 2 RBI’s and 2 doubles. Other players with multiple hits in the game were Alyssa Kuskie, Madie McClellan and Sylvie Prokasky.
Game 2 was played on two separate days due to the rain but Lowry wasn’t fazed as they won the game 15-8. The game had plenty of offense from the Lady Bucks as Madie McClellan and Kelsey Cooper each drove in 3 runs apiece and Alyssa Kuskie smacked 3 hits in the game. The following players also had 2 hites each Sylvie Prokasky, Sierra Maestrejuan, Savannah Dalley and Kyllie Sappington. Sierra was the winning pitcher of record.
Game 3 was won by Lowry with a score of 9-3.Sylvie Prokasky went the distance in notching her second pitching victory of the series. She also helped herself by hitting a triple. Kyllie Sappington sent and Elko pitch over the fence for her 1st home run of the season as well as a double in her 3 hit performance. Alyssa Kuskie and Madie McClellan each knocked in 3 runs and Savannah Dalley also had 2 hits in the game.
Lowry improved to 10-1 in league play and currently sits atop the league standings. This weekend the Lady Bucks will host a 10-3 Dayton team. The Saturday doubleheader will be broadcast on Buckaroo Radio’s Classic Rock station 92.1fm and streamed on the internet starting at 11am.
