Lowry Track Teams Look Towards Another Strong Year

Lowry Head Track Coach Grant Beatty

Lowry Head Track coach Grant Beatty is excited about both the boys and girls teams this season. The boys did lose one key sprinter in Victor Rojas because of a football injury but there are a number of young sprinters coming up that can help the team. Cross country and long distance running star, Will Kracaw will anchor the distance runners this season as coach Beatty tells Buckaroo Broadcasting.

Even though the girls lost some talent from last year they are able to reload with a number of underclassmen and add a few additional events to other athletes. Coach Beatty highlighted Hailey Hinkle and Shelby Garrison in the sprints as well as her sister Rachel in the discus and shot put. Becca Kuskie will lead the way for the girls in the distance races and Adia Bengochea should bring some depth in a number of areas.

The last few years the teams from Elko, Spring Creek and Truckee have provided most of the competition and coach Beatty expects about the same this season.

The schedule has changed, next up for the track teams is a meet this weekend in Yerington because of possible bad weather in Elko.
